Descrição: Tamzara (Tamuz-Ara) was a line dance, extending from Kayseri in the west to Sevan in the east to Trebizond in the North to Van in the south. In Kharpet and Arabkir, the dance was a couple/trio dance.
This Tamzara is a line dance from Western Erzerum near Yerzinga, Historical Armenia. The variance to this dance is when the music changes, the Bar Bashi (dance leader) calls for the line to take four steps to the left, twice.
I would like to dedicate this Tamzara in Loving Memory of Baron Arsen Anooshian, last director of the Armenian Folk Dance Society of New York, and my dance instructor. Baron Arsen preserved dances from Historical Armenia in its original form, no modification and no choreography. The Armenian Folk Dance Society performed at the 1939 and 1964 World's Fair in New York. Tamzara was one of the Societies favorite dance.
