Descrição: If you didn't care for the beginning of AWE, you probably won't care for the beginning of this vid, either. It's slightly disturbing, I suppose, but I found that I had to do it after hearing the song for the first time.
This vid is fueled by the theme that Elizabeth can't cut free from her old life. Although she wants to be with Jack, society plus her own boggled conscience keep her fear for Jack's life her main concern. That fear can only be increased after a deckhand (Scruffington, really) sees them together, and warns them to end their trysts before he tells the Commodore. Seeing as Elizabeth is engaged to Commodore Norrington, they try to obey, but can only last so long. They're soon caught by the Commodore himself. After he threatens both their lives, Elizabeth goes to Jack and tells him they simply cannot be; she must go along with the Commodore. [Think Tristan and Isolde: "I'll pretend it's you, then."] Elizabeth then makes a deal with the Commodore that she'll remain faithful to him if he'll do no harm to a banished Jack. Quickly, Elizabeth realizes that a life with the Commodore means she must throw away her old life completely and return to corsets. Wanting to eliminate any temptation from Jack for fear he'll resist his banishment, she goes to him and tells him she never loved him. [Again, think Moulin Rouge: "Hurt him to save him."] They go their separate ways, but just as Elizabeth predicted, Jack comes to Port Royal for her, remembering something in her eyes that day she left him - something like regret. I can't say it's a happy ending.
READ AFTER VIEWING:
Originally, the beginning was supposed to be foreshadowing for the end, but I changed the story somewhat to fit the music halfway through the project. I still like to think of it that way (i.e. Jack's final moment at the end of a noose) even though he actually dies at the hands of the navy, not a rope. However, the beginning can also be viewed simply as Elizabeth's fears for Jack's life, highlighting how she can't will herself to change for him (i.e. the shot of Elizabeth rousing the pirates before the war, only to be followed by a shot of a more fragile, corseted Elizabeth, all seen from the eyes of Jack.) and also just to show how dangerous the life of a pirate is in Port Royal.
As for the ending - and by ending I mean the very last clip where the music box locket stops - you can take that to mean what you want. It could symbolize the end of Jack and Elizabeth's relationship, or it could stand for the literal end of Elizabeth's life, as hinted in the previous clip where Elizabeth wades out in the water, surrounded by candles.

Aaaand YouTube messed up my timing again! So just imagine the short clips are more on time, I guess. :(
